A Sweet Inception:
Our story begins in 1777 during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid I. Faced with the challenge of satisfying his numerous mistresses, the Sultan summoned his confectionary chefs to create a unique dessert. It was within this royal decree that the legendary Turkish Delight found its roots.
Bekir Efendi, a skilled confectioner from eastern Anatolia, is often credited with the creation of Turkish Delight. Arriving in Istanbul, Bekir Efendi's delectable invention quickly gained favour, becoming a fashionable gift wrapped in intricate lace handkerchiefs.
