The smallest diameter of the hazelnut is 9 mm. Nuts below this ratio are called thin or chocolate (6-9 mm) hazelnuts.

80% of it is used in chocolate (chopped, ground), biscuit, confectionery, cake and ice cream industries. It is also consumed as a snack.
